According to 2 Timothy 3: 2-4, in the end -times men shall be lovers of their selves, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, and unholy. They will be without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fiercer, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Lastly, they will even seem to have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof: from such turn away.
Now if this doesn’t sound like our world today in 2022, you have been deceived. I want to discuss a few sections of this with you and how it correlates to us today. We all use the internet daily, with social media, browsing, and youtube. It’s not uncommon to see tons of videos about how to become a millionaire and make thousands of dollars a week for little to no work. People want all the money to buy big houses, and multiple fancy cars and look the part of being rich and affluent. They want the things that everyone else has, brand names, expensive decor, and all that money can buy. Let’s not forget that wanting what everybody else has is coveting, which is a sin.
Keep in mind I am by no means suggesting that wanting to earn a living to take care of your family, especially if you’re working hard for it is wrong. I’m referring to the people who believe they are entitled to a lifestyle of wealth and esteem themselves higher than others, full of pride. Those who fall in the category of schemes and cons, or scams, to build wealth. Even those who lack empathy for lower-income families.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some have coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows( 1 Timothy 6:10) Money itself is not evil, we need money to survive in this world, and God dosen’t want us living in poverty for sure. It’s how you feel about the money and how you began to change after you receive large amounts of money, even why you need the money in the first place. You have people who need money to buy clothes, and food and take care of their families and help others which is all in the correct order. However, some people have other agendas, mostly pointing to greed and pleasure for themselves.
Jesus tells us this, “ Ye cannot serve God and Mammon” (Matthew 6:24) Don’t allow greed and the power for money to overtake you. Don’t lay up treasures and riches here on earth where they will be stolen from you, tarnished, and even expired. Instead as Christians, we should be building our treasures up in heaven where they won’t ever end, everlasting; because where your treasure is there your heart will also be (Matthew 6: 19-21) Before I leave the issues of money, let us remember to steward well the monetary blessings God has given us and not get carried away with the pride of life. we love God and seek after God for who he is, not the blessings he can give us.
Blessings To All!
